Ground Rules 1. Assumptions • Palestinians are whole humans. They are not Human Animals or Human Shields. • Palestinians are the Indigenous people of the state now known as Israel. • The government of Israel is occupying the lands of Palestinians and is subject to international law that applies to occupation forces. • Killing is wrong. Genocide is wrong. What's happening in Gaza is a genocide. • Judaism is a religion and is not the same as the state of Israel. • Zionism is a system of political and oppressive action, not a religion. Zionism is not the same as Judaism. Christians can be Zionists. 2. We Are Here To... • Mobilize people to take action. Center the voices of Palestinians. • Elevate voices of people of the Global Majority around the cause of Palestine. • Condemn the Israeli government for genocide. • Discuss community, healing, wholeness and humanity. 3. We Are Not Here To... • Defend the Israeli government, demean or demonize any people, defend Zionism, perpetuate stereotypes. 4. Ground Rules • Believe lived experiences of people of the Global Majority, whether they are in the room or not. No tone policing. • Centre the voices of Palestinian and Global Majority folks. • All emotions are OK to feel, but pause before you express them. • No talk that is anti-Islamic, anti-Jewish, anti-Indigenous, anti-Black or anti-People of the Global Majority. • No telling stories just to take up space. White folks: We want this space to remain accessible, regardless of finances. We also want this space to be reciprocal, where participants are contributing to the community. Therefore, we ask participants who are financially resourced to make a donation (link to come). We would recommend between the price of a cup of coffee and and a takeout meal (per session).
